‘Get Out More’ with the New and Improved OutmoreNI.com

Outmore NI has a new look! The launch of this new website and campaign is even better for helping you ‘Get Out More’ to a range of outdoor trails and places across Northern Ireland.

Today marks the launch of our new OutmoreNI.com website packed full of inspirational content and bespoke new features that will help you and your family find the perfect trail or outdoor place. The already popular website has been enhanced and updated to be the one-stop-shop for trail finding in Northern Ireland. Along with the launch of the new website, comes a brand-new campaign, Get Out More!

With summer quickly approaching there is no better time to start planning which outdoor spots to visit around Northern Ireland. It is however growing more common for people to navigate towards the same popular outdoor locations, causing them to become overcrowded and misused. Keen to tackle these issues is the focus of the ‘Get Out More’ campaign which includes a major overhaul of the OutmoreNI.com website showcasing the many outdoor trails and places across Northern Ireland, that people may not be aware of. From those on their doorsteps to the wonderful hidden gems further afield.

Picnic at the park!

Research by Outdoor Recreation NI in 2020, the organisation behind the campaign, revealed nearly half (47%) of the population of Northern Ireland were spending more of their free time outdoors during the pandemic than they did in 2019 and 51% expect to continue to use the outdoors. This increase in sustained outdoor usage by the Northern Irish public emboldened OutmoreNI.com’s desire to redevelop its website and launch this new campaign. Funding provided by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and Sport NI has supported this new campaign and website.

The new OutmoreNI.com site takes its original unique map service, now with even better functionality. It is anticipated the new website will help anyone who wants to use the outdoors; enthusiast or new user, plan the perfect outdoor getaway. There are a range of categories to choose from depending on what activity or place is desired by the user which are clearly represented by colour coded icons. For example, an orange footprint icon symbolises walking trails and a green park bench symbolises parks on the website. When a trail or place is selected, more information will be presented including distance, nearest town, trail directions, the facilities available, any points of interest including wildlife on site and how to actually get there. It also displays an image which encourages users to get a glimpse of the beautiful scenery the place or trail provides.

The website is home to over 400 walking trails, 100 cycling, canoeing and mountain bike trails and over 200 outdoor places which have all been individually mapped to show the important information needed when planning an outdoor adventure. This includes trail distances, information on parking facilities, admission charges, guidelines on bringing dogs and much more.

Its goal is to help people discover what trails and outdoor places are on their doorstep or waiting for them in another part of Northern Ireland – whether it is walking, cycling, canoeing and mountain biking trails or maybe an adventure to previously unknown forests, parks, beaches or nature reserves.
