Oxford Island has 4 miles of walking trails, 5 birdwatching hides, enchanting woodland, ponds, pretty wildflower meadows, picnic and children's play areas. The centre is fully accessible and houses an exhibition where visitors can learn all about the history, the culture and wildlife in and around Lough Neagh.
There is also craft shop and Loughside Cafe for a rest and refreshment break.
Much of the Reserve was planted with trees about 40 years and there are pleasant walks through the woods and old shoreline scrub.
The Reserve has won the BT Countryside for All Award in 1998 for its facilities and ease of access for less abled visitors. There are 2 mobility scooters available for free use to those with limited mobility.
